“When fascism comes to America it will come
wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross” - Sinclair
Lewis Actually I’ve expressed my inner yearnings to estabish a dictatorship publicly on a number of occasions. My friends however, the dark forces in the shadows who truly control America, long ago discovered that by convincing the people they were free and they lived in a great democracy it was possible to gain a much more stable and lasting dominance than could be achieved by installing a barefaced out and out dictatorship. Nonetheless I like to think I’ve done what I can to making things just a little bit more like Nazi Germany and a little bit less like some other place. I have already succeeded in: REMOVING THE RIGHT TO A FAIR TRIAL In simple English habeas corpus is the right of a prisoner to have it determined by a court, if he has been wrongly imprisoned. Habeas corpus is the law which says the government can’t just throw a person in jail without trial and throw away the key. Personally I don’t care for it much, never have. On 17 October
2006 I signed into law the Military Commissions Act of 2006. This act
suspends the right of habeas corpus for any Now you might feel that since you are neither an alien nor an enemy combatant this law doesn’t affect you sitting cosy and warm at home with your P.C. But here’s the sting in the tail. Let’s say I decide tomorrow that in my opinion you ARE an alien, masquerading as an American citizen, and you are an enemy combatant because, perhaps you’ve criticized me in a newspaper, what exactly are you going to do about it? But I’m not an alien I hear you scream, I can prove it. Guess what? It doesn’t matter. You are now officially “waiting for the United States to determine whether you have been properly detained”, and legally we can take as long as we like to do it. We just put you in a dungeon and threw away the key. Welcome to America.
LEGALISING TORTURE I do have some problems with torture, legal problems. That’s where extraordinary rendition comes in. That’s where the C.I.A. grabs you in the middle of the night and bundles you into a small light aircraft destined for some place where the law doesn’t have a problem with us shooting electricity up your ass. Since 2001 we’ve rendered about 150 people. The Military Commissions Act of 2006 made it legal. Of course flying people half way round the world just to torture them
can still be more trouble than it’s worth. We felt things would
be a lot simpler if we could do some of it right here at home. That’s
why the Military Commissions Act deliberately permits the use of any form
of torture that does not actually lead to actual bodily harm. That means
things like forcing prisoners to stand up without sleep, shackled and
handcuffed for a couple of days will be just fine, along with other favourite
C.IA. techniques such as The Cold Cell and Water Boarding
RIGGING 2 ELECTIONS
